LET’S GET THIS RIGHT

Three Days In History. I’m talking about THE most important Three
Days.  I’m talking about the THREE DAYS that encompass the Last
Supper, arrest, trial, scourging, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of
Jesus Christ.

THREE (3) full days as predicted by Jesus, and certainly not the day
and a half that has been traditionally celebrated by most of
Christianity.

That’s right. 1 1/2 days. A day and a half. The time frame is
biblically incorrect and therefore historically incorrect. Jesus was
not crucified on Friday. He died on a Wednesday if we are going to
hold to the proper biblical chronology and time frame. He indeed
resurrected sometime before sunrise on Sunday.

Here is the proper and true chronology. It stands to reason that IF we
are going to be true followers and disciples of Jesus Christ, we would
get this correct.

Tuesday

Jesus Christ ate an evening Passover meal with His disciples and
instituted the New Covenant symbols (Matthew:26:26-28). Jesus was then
betrayed by Judas, arrested and during the night brought before the
high priest. We also realize that in the time frame of the next day or
so, Jesus is also brought before Caiaphas, Pilate, and Herod, and
subsequently brought back to Pilate to be beaten, sentenced, and put
to death. Keeping in mind throughout this that a Jewish day is from
sunset to sunset during these biblical times.

Wednesday

Jesus was crucified about 9:a.m. and died around 3 p.m.
(Matthew:27:46-50). This was the preparation day for the annual, not
weekly, Sabbath, which began at sunset (Mark:15:42; Luke:23:54;
John:19:31). Jesus’ body was placed in the tomb just before sunset
(Matthew:27:57-60). It’s very important that we realize this was not
during the weekly and normal sabbath day. It was a “High Day” which
was in association with Jewish feast days, in this case, The Feast of
Unleavened Bread.

Thursday

This was the high-day Sabbath, the first day of Unleavened Bread
(John:19:31;Leviticus:23:4-7). It is described as the day after the
“Day of Preparation” (Matthew:27:62). Extremely important if we are
going to break free from stale religious tradition and downright
anti-biblical rhetoric. We must place TRUTH over religion and
tradition.

Friday

The high-day Sabbath now past, the women bought and prepared spices
for anointing Jesus’ body before resting on the weekly Sabbath day,
which began at Friday sunset (Mark:16:1; Luke:23:56).  The women would
have never done this on a Saturday as it violated Jewish Law as being
“working” on the Sabbath (Saturday) Day. Remember how the Pharisees
challenged Jesus for His disciples simply picking a kernel of wheat
off a stalk on the Sabbath? How much more would anointing a body on
the Sabbath be frowned upon?

Saturday

The women rested on the weekly Sabbath, according to the Fourth
Commandment (Luke:23:56; Exodus:20:8-11). Jesus rose at some point by
sunset, exactly three days and three nights after burial, fulfilling
the sign of Jonah and authenticating the sign He gave of His
messiahship.  Jesus was already risen by the time Mary Magdalene and
the other women arrived at the tomb on Sunday. Remember that according
to the calendar of the Jews, the first day of the week (Sunday) began
at sunset on Saturday and ended on sunset on Sunday.

Sunday

The women brought the spices early in the morning while it was still
dark (Luke:24:1; John:20:1), finding that Jesus had already risen
(Matthew:28:1-6; Mark:16:2-6; Luke:24:2-3; John:20:1). In every
scripture it is evident and proven that He resurrected at some point
near sunset Saturday and was already gone from the tomb by the time
the women arrived on Sunday morning. Sunday becomes important to us as
believers as a day of discovery of the tomb being empty rather than
focusing on making some sort of holiday or feast day out of it. The
miracle and its efficacious relationship to those of us who believe is
the utmost value of what Jesus did here. Meeting the criteria of empty
religion has overshadowed the truth and has truly defined “not seeing
the forest for the trees”.

So, it is unquestionable that this chronology is truthfully in line
with what Jesus said about his death, burial, and resurrection which
is as follows:

Matthew 12:40 – “For even as Jonah was three days and three nights in
the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three
nights in the heart of the earth.”

The truth and supportive evidence is clearly shown in Scripture and we
are bound to recognize it and teach the TRUTH.

When Jesus said THREE DAYS He meant THREE DAYS.

Let’s focus on the TRUTH and what really happened because Jesus also said:

John 8:32 – “And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.”

John 14:6 – “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the
Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.”

He IS the TRUTH so we want to make sure we get HIM correct!

He is RISEN!
