IT ONLY TAKES A CRACK
DOC LYNCH
Why do you think we call demons "familiar spirits"? It's because they have been around a person all of their lives and having gotten an opportune moment to "move in on" them at some point, by which they become engrained into them. They must be "evicted" and cast out. They can be, and very successfully I might add. So much so that a person who was filled with many demons could be restored to a normal spiritual, mental, and physical state. The human "host" can be cleansed to such a degree that there is no physical evidence that their earthly "house" ever hosted such evil.
That doesn't mean such a person can relax. Left alone for instance, and not dedicating their newly vacated space totally to the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ, all those same familiar spirits linger in the shadows and wait.
They wait. They watch. They observe.
All they need is a small opportunity to seize a foothold once again.
It only takes a crack.
Open it up by the smallest of invitations and it's a gathering of "that old gang of mine" once again.
Jesus knows:
Matthew 12:43-45 (AMP) – "But when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, it roams through dry [arid] places in search of rest, but it does not find any. 44 Then it says, I will go back to my house from which I came out. And when it arrives, it finds the place unoccupied, swept, put in order, and decorated. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and make their home there. And the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first. So also shall it be with this wicked generation."
Mark 16:9 (AMP) – “Now Jesus, having risen [from death] early on the first day of the week, appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had driven out seven demons.”
The demon finds its former abode "unoccupied". It's never good enough to evict the former evil tenant, it must be quickly occupied with the Goodness of God by the Presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. There is something about “seven”.
That has always been the tough part in my opinion. The spit shined and fresh new "coat of paint" won't cut it for long. The demon, the former "familiar spirit", knows the person so well that it almost senses a new opportunity in the offing. They know the warm and inviting host they have spent years with better than the person knows themselves.
They take advantage of the person having done essentially nothing to make their body a place of God and holiness and now come back and bring friends with them. The person now becomes even in a much more worse state than they were before. Often a person like that has only a small window of opportunity to reclaim their life again before becoming so overwhelmed by evil that they perish. There is greater strength in numbers when dealing with the demonic forces. They will build an army inside a person that will drag them to hell eventually if not interceded for again.
I'm Pastor Doc Lynch from Revival Life Church, 21 Executive Center Drive, New Milford, CT 06776 and I have operated in deliverance ministry almost from the time I became a preacher of the gospel almost 40 years ago.
