HOW’S YOUR BELIEVING?
DOC LYNCH
Strange question addressed to "BELIEVERS", isn't it?
Asking a "BELIEVER" in Jesus Christ how their "BELIEVING" is?
It's a perfectly reasonable, if not necessary, diagnostic question, posed not to accumulate "data", but rather to cause an introspection that often is found somewhat absent in the life of the average BELIEVER in Jesus.
In other words, folks don't generally spend much time contemplating their RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ.
If a spouse failed in that their marriage would be shallow and marginal.
If a parent did that their relationship with their child would be distant.
If an employee did that about their job they might not be viewed as a model employee.
When we do that as believers and associated with Jesus, our relationship with Him will SUFFER.
For me personally, I think it's more important for me to engage my culture and environment portraying myself as a BELIEVER in Jesus Christ, rather than say, being identified as a Christian. That might sound shocking to some, but the term "Christian" has eroded down to a mere generic religious term that to the rest of the world explains nothing more than intolerance on one end and theological craziness on the other. The term "Christian" does not necessarily denote a true believer in Jesus Christ, in fact overall if we look closely at the statistics, the term Christian is inflated by a myriad of spiritual party politics. Overall it is my estimation that people identify more with the denomination of church they belong to more than they identify with Jesus Christ Himself. If that is YOU today, than that is troublesome.
So…How's YOUR Believing?
Let me expand this a bit. Take a popular and widely misinterpreted scripture as an example.
Mark 11:24 (AMP) – "For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]."
Okay? You read it? Good. Now…do you believe it?
Understanding that this is Jesus Himself saying it, do you believe it?
Do you believe without hesitation that Jesus Himself is telling us that when we pray to Him, that we are absolutely without question BELIEVING that the prayer is answered BEFORE we even see evidence of it?
Yes? No? How's Your BELIEVING?
Some of you are saying without doubt that "this is crazy", that it is "impossible" to believe that way. More than likely it is because of your "religious", not necessarily "spiritual" background. You could have been raised "Christian" your entire life and not have one shred of spirituality in you.
How about if I told you that you could be a "Christian" all of your life and Jesus doesn't even know who you are. That is because you have known "Christianity" but NOT Jesus.
You may be the victim of having "known of" Jesus. But you haven't REALLy known Him.
If you really know Jesus, that verse I just posted will not have shocked you or made you reassess. You would have immediately acquiesced to it and thought "ABSOLUTELY!"
How about another? Jesus and His response to "Doubting" Thomas.
John 20:29 (AMP) – "Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, Thomas, do you now believe (trust, have faith)? Blessed and happy and to be envied are those who have never seen Me and yet have believed and adhered to and trusted and relied on Me."
Thomas lived with Jesus on a close and continual basis for over 3 years, yet he had great doubt about Him having accomplished what Jesus had spoken about continuously. It wasn't until Thomas saw the resurrected Jesus and was able to put his fingers in His nail holes did He finally believe that Jesus had indeed died and was resurrected JUST as He said He would.
Jesus rebuked Thomas sharply for that lack of faith and belief.
Jesus further said that BLESSED and HAPPY and enviable are those (US) who have NEVER seen Him physically yet trust in and rely on and adhere to Him (which is the definition of BELIEVE).
So…again. How's YOUR Believing?
Do you TRUST in, RELY on, and ADHERE to Jesus in every way?
Than you are a BELIEVER in the strongest relationship with Him possible.
If not? Than you have work to do.
I'm Pastor Doc Lynch from Revival Life Church, 21 Executive Center Drive, New Milford, CT 06776, and I want every person to become that truest of BELIEVER possible. I'm not interested in marginality where Jesus is a Sunday morning rabbits foot. I don't want people to think Jesus is a mere prelude to another activity you are REALLY interested in, and just sprinkling the name of Jesus around like some sort of fairy dust. I look upon with disdain as Jesus is dusted off ONLY when you think you need Him. No…He is REAL and He longs to be a part of YOU every moment, and He wants you to trust and rely and stick to Him as He will to you. We at Revival Life believe that and we can show you the way. Sunday worship is at 10:00 a.m. When you are ready for THAT level of DEDICATION and LOYALTY, stop by and let's get acquainted.
Be REVIVED in Him today!
