BAD FEELINGS
Some folks wake up with bad feelings. Dread. Foreboding. Fear.
What a way to start a day. Or finish a day. In fact some folks take yesterday’s fears and dread to bed with them and fall asleep (somewhat) with them.
In other words, they start, live, and finish their day with a bad, bad, feeling.
I understand that in a person that has no affinity toward Jesus at all. I completely do NOT get it in a believer.
I mean, given what we know from the Bible and all.
Psalm 91:10-11 (AMP) – “There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. 11 For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].”
Wow. How’s that for a promise? And it IS a PROMISE you know, right? In other words, it can’t fail. It’s foolproof and devil proof.
All WE have to do is believe it.
Imagine that?
No evil or sickness or plague can even come near your dwelling place.
I am reminded of how people were starting to panic when the ebola virus, which is usually constrained to parts of Africa, all of a sudden came to the USA when some Americans contracted it and needed to be treated here.
I am reminded of how many Americans live in fear of a terrorist attack.
I understand the greater constituency of the non-believing nation.
I don’t understand the panic of the believer.
I don’t understand not trusting God. I don’t.
Not only has God said that no evil can harm us, but that He has dispatched Angels to have charge over you in the way of protection and preservation in every area of your life.
Let’s look at that.
First of all it says, “HE WILL”. That means it’s a promise. If God says He will, then He will.
So…IF YOU are a believer today YOU have Angels assigned to you by God to watch over and protect you. They are not however there to control you, or override YOUR free will.
If you do not want the Angels to act on your behalf you can disregard them. They will allow you to drink, smoke, and do drugs. They will also allow you to suffer the consequences of excess alternative lifestyle. Of course if you are doing those things then you have probably left the believers ranks, and the Angels have been recalled (actually driven away) by your rejection of Jesus Christ.
Did I mention that only believers in Jesus Christ have this benefit of angelic protection? Yeah, it’s one of the perks. I have caught glimpses of mine. I am trying to develop and hone my spiritual perception to the point where I can see them clearly. I believe they do not try to conceal themselves from us. We are too earthbound in our living to see them. It’s only a thin veil that separates us.
Some believers wonder what happened when stuff goes wrong and they suffer harm. Well, sometimes we burn the tent down. Maybe even unsuspectingly. A believer can enter into even a benign type of lifestyle that while not particularly bad or sinful, it’s not exactly Godlike and wonderful either. Usually at that point a believer is just sort of…well… blah. Doesn’t pray, goes to church sporadically, doesn’t read or study the Word. They can even get worldly in wholesome type activities. In other words, while not being bad, there is really no evidence that they are a believer either.
When we consider there really is no place between being a believer and not being one, than not acting like one is a as bad as not being one. Result? Doublemindedness.
James 1:7-8 (AMP) – “For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord, 8 [For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].”
There it is. Unstable. Unreliable. Uncertain.
I run across people like that ALL OF THE TIME. Do I pick at them? No. I just can’t trust them with any responsibility or believe them when they tell me they will do something or be somewhere.
Something else of lesser quality (anything NOT of God), always gets in the way of the most important things (things concerning the God life).
When WE decide, (and it is ALWAYS our decision and not the Angels or even God), to live the God life then we gain full access to all His promises.
I remember having an accident a few years back where I suffered a sudden and devastating injury that kept me in a compromised physical state for over 6 months. I spent a lot of that time talking to God and trying to come to an understanding of how that happened to me. In the end I realized it was all based upon one poor decision. It wasn’t even something sinful. I had just made a decision to do something that I never considered perhaps God didn’t want me to do. It was a poor choice on my part and I should have known better. I had no protection around me because I had clearly shown God that I wanted control.
Your decisions, especially as a believer, clearly make a difference in your lifestyle. You have free will and God will never violate that. He just will not support it if it does not include Him.
Clear indications of a doubleminded life is found simply in your actions and results. If you are joyful, happy, peaceful, fear free, healthy, financially stable, etc, than it’s not because you are so brilliant. It’s because you have placed your trust in God for everything. Your health, marriage, finances, job, children, etc.
If you are constantly micromanaging your life, as well as the lives around you, and trying to maintain that you are a believer, then you have thrown a monkey wrench into your life and nothing is working real well. Nothing. In fact, YOU are in a scary place. That is DOUBLE MINDED. James says you should not even IMAGINE getting anything from God.
