So you “entertained” Jesus a bit. You “tinkered” around with meeting Him, getting to know Him a bit, reading about Him, maybe even attending church a bit in your search to see what all the “noise” about Him is according to some of your well meaning friends and acquaintances.
You even felt a positive impact upon your life. You were actually happy about it and experienced some joy over it. Maybe you were even happier than you have been in some time.
Sadly, it didn’t seem to “take”. It was ok for a little while, but soon you drifted away back to the life you had tried to get away from a short time earlier.
Catch that? You drifted away and “back to the life you had tried to get away from”.
Welcome to the ROCK PILE.
This is not “THE ROCK” which we call Jesus. No, this is the rocky soil the Sower tried to plant his seed into. The Sower is the preacher of the gospel which is the Word of God and referred to here as the Seed. The soil or ground is the heart of a person.
Luke 8:13 (AMP) – “And those upon the rocky soil [are the people] who, when they hear [the Word], receive and welcome it with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, and in time of trial and temptation fall away (withdraw and stand aloof).”
The Sower of the Seed does not pick and choose where to plant. He just tosses the message of salvation in Christ out to all who will hear. Sometimes it lands on good soil and takes root and gets nourished and grows into a powerful person who will plant their own Seed someday.
Sometimes the birds come and snatch the Seed before anything can happen to it. The birds are the devil and his evil forces.
Sometimes it just lands on Rocky Soil. A heart that is made of stone. It almost takes, but the minute the old siren call from the past beckons, it is proven that the Seed had not taken any root. It was an unproductive soil and it produced a weak product.
Welcome to the Rock Pile. That’s you without Jesus. Somewhere in you, you know you want to be with Him, but you just can’t. You fail continually.
There are solutions.
I’m Pastor Doc Lynch from Revival Life Church, 21 Executive Center Drive, New Milford, CT 06776, and I believe that rocky soil can be turned into a healthy place that the Word of God will take root. We have church on Sunday morning at 10:00. Why not come by and receive a Word for you. The heart can be softened from no matter how hard it is. JESUS NEVER FAILS!
Be blessed today!
