THE THROWBACK THURSDAY LAMB

There's a real sign of power and strength, huh?

A lamb. A baby sheep.

John 1:29 (AMP) – "The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world!"

LOOK!

In the structure of the sentence and in the context of how and when it was spoken, it was a very excited and emphatic "LOOK!"

That's because it wasn't REALLY a lamb in the weak sheep sense.

It was THE Lamb of God, and He was entering into a covenant with the human race to remove its SIN.

He was a LAMB only in the sense that He was becoming a breathing sin sacrifice.

He was sort of what we refer to as a Throwback. In other words, He was making real in the truest sense, what was a band-aid way back when.

In the Old Testament, a spotless lamb was brought to the temple by people on the Day of Atonement. They would then hand the lamb over to the priest who would slaughter the lamb and catch it's blood in a laver and take it back to behind the large curtain into the Holy of Holy where the Ark of the Covenant was, and splash the Mercy Seat with the "blood of the lamb". During the time of Passover, when the population of Jerusalem swelled with over one million Jews making the pilgrimage, it was said that so many animals were slain that the channels in the sides of the streets ran red with blood.

Hundreds of thousands of lambs being slain for the sins of a people trying to appease God.

It was always only going to take just ONE LAMB.

Hebrews 10:4 (AMP) – "Because the blood of bulls and goats is powerless to take sins away."

Anything other than Jesus, the TRUE Lamb of God, is powerless and futile to try to remove sin.

No animal sacrifice. No confession to a priest. No redundant prayer penance. No religious liturgy, dogma, or ritual.

Just Jesus and what He has ALREADY done for the human race.

When man acknowledges and accepts, and RECEIVES that to himself, even now, 2,000 years later, it effects (becomes efficacious) for and accomplishes his own personal salvation from sin, and makes him an adopted son or daughter of the family of God. Eternal LIFE now becomes your destined future. You have crossed over from death to LIFE. Eternal perdition in hell is no longer your future destination.

This is what we mean when we say you have been "SAVED". You are now "BORN AGAIN".

Romans 10:9 (AMP) – "Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

John 10:3 (AMP) – "Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God."

There it is. IF YOU have NOT taken the very simple steps in faith to ensure your eternal salvation which begins NOW and NOT later, than you are living below the standard that God has provided for humanity. All of humanity may NOT take advantage of this, perhaps even most may not, but it is available for you to change YOUR life today.
