FAITH CONFOUNDS EVEN THE WORST CIRCUMSTANCES
Hebrews 13:5-6 (AMP) 5 Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] 6 So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?
I stumbled over Hebrews 13:5 in the midst of a cocaine overdose in 1983. I won’t go over every detail, but I had a dust covered envelope sitting up on my dresser for the better part of a year, that my dad had sent away for and gave to me because even he saw how scarily my life was spinning out of control due to drug and alcohol abuse. I was in the middle of a divorce, separated from my first wife and three kids, and hitting the drug scene harder than ever, and I had been hitting it hard for almost 20 years by that time.
It was a pamphlet of sorts, called “Power for Living”. There was a commercial for it on TV promoting some famous sports figures of the day who were believers in Jesus Christ. Each chapter was a person testifying how Jesus changed their lives, and how He could change mine. I obviously wasn’t actually reading the book in those moments, as I was having trouble breathing. I did however, thumb to the end of the book where verse 5 from above spoke directly to me. It was the words, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
I was able to recognize those words as coming from Jesus. For some reason, at that moment, they were a great comfort to me, and I believed that Jesus was pulling me through. It took another three years for me to eventually give my heart and soul to Jesus and become born again, as well as get delivered from a 20 year old drug addiction. During that time He sent me Joan, who understood the struggle, and helped lead me quietly to the place we both experienced that night in 1986. We were saved, healed, and delivered that night, and me and Joan, have never looked back, through thick and thin, and 41 years of marriage and ministry. God has blessed us for our faithfulness to Him, and He has NEVER failed us once! Ever!
It has been the element of faith which God has bestowed upon us all these years now. We have been through trials and difficulties during that time, but we have always been able to believe without hesitation or restriction, that Jesus Christ was always present with us to help and sustain us.
Simply put, faith in Jesus Christ changes even the worst of circumstances. I’m talking a faith that will not waver or be shaken. Faith that believes for the best of things in our lives that is real even before what we are believing for even happens!
It’s faith, not hope. Hope remains just a hope until we lay faith upon it! (Hebrews 11:1).
Our faith, my faith, stems from a dedication and the exercising of reading the Word of God on a daily basis and studying the biblical solutions for ever issue we will ever experience in this world, and applying it to our lives by….FAITH! We simply believe what God says in His Holy written Word that every person has free access to.
Be encouraged today! There is no problem of yours that Jesus cannot solve.
Jesus never fails! Never!
Keepin’ it Real,
