I tend to try to find “REAL”. I need real. I explore REAL. Revel in REAL. I NEED REAL.
Admittedly I get disappointed a lot. Sometimes even downright hurt. I have been fooled. I admit that, but rather than turning into a skeptic, I choose to find REAL in every person.
REAL, is built in. Out of all the many ways religion has tried to prove that God is REAL, the best proof for me is in how God is represented in all phases and aspects of life and living. I think Paul does a great job with the passage below. Simple. Succinct. Believe it or not.
Romans 1:20 (AMP) – “For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification].”
Man is indeed without an excuse, yet we continue to make them. I’m not sure why it is such a magnanimous task to believe, let alone trust in God. Many factors I suppose. The way we are raised. The events surrounding us when growing up. The way were were exposed to and treated by “religious” people and organizations and even churches.
Maybe just life. Live will beat the REAL out of a person sometimes. So much so, that all that is left is any other thing a person would like to be rather than their self. I think a lot of actors and artistic people are like that. How convenient (or not) to have an escape route to another place that is more pleasing than REALITY.
When we changed the name of our church years ago, it was my suggestion we call it REAL LIFE.
REAL LIFE. It reflects Jesus. After all it is HIS church.
Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. TRUTH is also defined as REALITY.
Jesus is the WAY, the REALITY, and the LIFE.
Because of Him I seek REAL.
I know some very real people. Some I have been warned to stay away from, or have been told not to trust them. Some are face value and no matter what they have come out of, I have no sense of falseness. Some walk in dripping REAL and show in the end they have faked it all along. Others I just accept while waiting for the other shoe to drop. Tentative REALITY. I don’t like tentative. I like full REAL TIME REALITY. I live there. You’re going to get banged up a bit when REAL becomes full time.
It’s a REAL LORD, a REAL CHURCH, and some REAL PEOPLE. I generally find across the board a premium on REAL PEOPLE. When we are REAL it will clash with FAKE or at the least UNDECIDED. The opposite of REAL is not always FAKE. It’s often UNDECIDED. I can love, appreciate, and work with UNDECIDED. FAKE always bothers me because it is often wrapped up in lies.
I love folks who have nothing left to gain by lies. When FAKE comes full circle into UNDECIDED and then on to REAL.
Isn’t that what it’s all about as a believer?
I mean I have a fairly active life in general. I meet and mingle with, and am friends with all sorts of people. There could be great temptation to morph into whatever I am surrounded by. Become a chameleon.
Instead, I choose to remain me. Be true to who I am. Stay REAL. People will either appreciate that, not care, or totally want to get away from me. I can see what Jesus went through. All in all, He stayed true to Himself and His Father.
That, is more REAL to me than anything.
Paul has been misunderstood often in his mission to humanity.
1 Corinthians 9:22 (AMP) – “To the weak (wanting in discernment) I have become weak (wanting in discernment) that I might win the weak and overscrupulous. I have [in short] become all things to all men, that I might by all means (at all costs and in any and every way) save some [by winning them to faith in Jesus Christ].”
“All things to all men” is not a manipulation. It is supernatural. The only way a person could accomplish that is to be completely rooted and immersed in the REALITY of Jesus Christ. That’s because that IS what JESUS CHRIST IS. He is everything to everybody or He could not have lived up to being Savior of the world. He IS the One True Identifier with all of humanity.
How far did God take that?
2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP) – “For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].”
That’s leaving it all on the field. That’s going the distance. That is full Past, Present, AND Future REALITY.
It don’t get any more REAL than that.
I hope you explore your reality. I hope any falseness will stare back at you in some way today that will shake your core. Are you REAL? Are you living in REALITY? Or are you detached and on an artificial lifeline. If you are the latter than you are ruled by fear and circumstances.
I think we all know the answer in our hearts. I really do. I think there is an inherent God “chip” with a “code” implanted within us from birth that will always be our black box, our signal of distress, first to ourselves, and in times of great desperation, to God.
Maybe you haven’t had to jump into your FOXHOLE yet. When I jumped into mine Jesus was already in it waiting for me.
